Studio Central Product Designer

Apply To Job

Job ID: 3612250

DoorDash, Inc.

San Francisco, CA; Seattle, WA; New York, NY

About the Role

At DoorDash we are redefining what it means to be a designer. We are building toward a team of makers, builders, and doers. Between 2005 and 2015, "web designer" became "product designer" and the scope widened. The same shift is happening now, as LLMs expand that scope again, toward strategy on one end and direct execution on the other. As a Staff Visual Designer, you'll practice this build-first way of working with real autonomy: using AI-native tools and code to move from idea to shipped work quickly, and owning craft decisions end to end rather than checking each one against a brief.

You'll join Studio Central, a net-new Product Design team sitting at the intersection of product, brand, and innovation. Studio Central is a global team within Studio, DoorDash's Product Design organization, supporting DoorDash, Wolt, Deliveroo, and 7Rooms. We own how brand shows up in the product experience, partnering closely with Marketing and Product teams to shape cohesive, high-quality work and to help define the foundations, vision, and future state of design across our portfolio. Our work spans major brand moments, merchandising, and the systems that connect it all.

Studio Central's systems and standards are still being built, and everyone building here, regardless of level, has real input into what they become. You'll have full ownership over your own craft and projects, and a real voice in the standards, rituals, and craft bar the whole team ends up working from, not reacting to a framework someone else already finished, but helping shape it as it forms.

We operate in a hybrid working model, 1-2 days out of one of our Design Hubs, the rest working from home.

Your primary impact is craft and output: shipping high-quality, on-brand work across the campaigns, seasonal moments, and merchandising pushes Studio Central owns, with less oversight than earlier-career roles and more responsibility for getting it right yourself. Your secondary impact is revenue, in the same way: the work you ship well, and the craft feedback you give to the designers around you, is part of what raises the expression bar across DoorDash, Wolt, Deliveroo, and 7Rooms as a whole.

You're excited about this opportunity because you will...

  • Own end-to-end visual craft on brand moments, campaigns, and merchandising pushes, from concept through shipped, production-ready work, with less oversight than earlier-career roles
  • Mentor other designers as needed, sharing craft feedback and helping them build range, without formal authority over their work
  • Help build and pressure-test the design systems, component libraries, and AI-powered tooling as a team, whether that's proposing the first version or stress-testing someone else's, and speak up early rather than reacting to a finished one
  • Practice influencing without authority: bring a strong point of view into rooms with Product, Marketing, and creative stakeholders, and back it up with working prototypes rather than title
  • Build real range across the full workflow, from rough concept to production-ready execution, and hand off cleanly to engineering so nothing gets lost in translation

We're excited about you because you have...

  • A portfolio that shows strong, considered visual craft, systems thinking, or brand work at a senior level, even if you haven't yet led an org-wide initiative
  • Comfort moving between art-direction tools like Figma and Illustrator and shipping in code, or you're closing that gap quickly
  • A habit of treating a new tool or technique as an experiment worth running, not a decision you need to get right the first time, you'll ship a handful of rough attempts in something you picked up last week before you'd sit through a training on it
  • Experience giving craft feedback to other designers, even informally, and helping them get sharper
  • A track record of shipping ambiguous briefs to a high bar without heavy oversight
