Acceptable Tools in Interviews |
As new tools and practices continue to emerge in engineering daily workflows, DoorDash is committed to staying at the forefront of change, while also establishing clear guidelines on how to use applicable technologies fairly within our interviews. The information below is comprehensive and evolving. Depending on your interviews, some may apply to you – in some cases, it may not apply at all.
🚫 - No use of any AI-powered conversational agents, such as ChatGPT, to copy and paste any part of a prompt to provide a solution to a problem.
🟢 - To simulate a real-life work environment, you may use the IDE’s basic - not AI-powered - code completion feature only if it is built into the IDE used for your interview. AI-powered code completion tools are not allowed.
🟢 - You can use the language-specific documentation to look up specific components or syntax of an API. If you are stuck, inform the interviewer and you may use a search engine such as Google to look it up.
ℹ️ - If using HackerRank, you may see a pop-up from HackerRank requesting permission to securely control your display. This is part of their ‘Integrity Signals’ feature, which helps maintain a transparent interview session by detecting specific behaviors. We recommend allowing this permission to ensure a smooth interview experience.
As a candidate, we ask that you always be prepared to share any screen that allows our team to see your full work in the context of the interview conversation, whether one of the above tools is used or not.
